The Group "W" Bench

Confessions of a soft-hearted liberal-leaning social worker who happens to have married a Marine.

Name: KodiakMama
Location: Rockford, Washington, United States

I'm a small-town girl, who has lived in a lot of different places, due mostly to having been a Marine wife. I lean slightly left of center on a broad spectrum of issues, which leads to some very interesting conversations around the old homestead. I'm married to Sgt.B., of Gun Line fame. We have had our share of compromises over the years, but I figure in about 20 more years, I'll bring him around to the light side of the Force..... We relocated last year, hopefully for the last time, back to where I began my life; Rockford, WA, the place I couldn't wait to get away from 25 years ago! Funny how much it has improved since then(My parents have gotten smarter, too--it's amazing how they've progressed!)

Feeling Grateful...

Just a thought for today........

You can complain that rose bushes have thorns, or you can rejoice that thorn bushes sometimes make roses.

I was feeling grumpy because my kids are bickering, it's raining, and I can't send them outside. Then I thought about what a silly ass I'm being. I have healthy kids, who feel safe enough not to have to act perfect, and I have a warm, safe home to want to send them out of. Sometimes I forget to be happy about what I've already got, and wish for more than I need.

I was given your blog by a friend of mine, and I really enjoy reading your entries.
I think you must be a wonderful woman after what I have read here.
I also know that it happens too often that we are not greatful for what we have or that we don't see out blessings.
Like we are complaining when it's raining, but then when the sun shines it is too hot outside, or in winter we complain about it being too cold. I think we just have to do our best to see the good things out there:D

I love that thought -- would you like a rose from my thornbush? ;o)

I'd love one, darlin'. Oh, by the way, I found someone else willing to play guitar for us if you-know-who doesn't want to. :)

Welcome to the firing line of the blogosphere, Kodiak Momma. Sorry I'm late with the welcome wagon, but just got back form camping and noticed Sgt B's post.

I was really fascinated by your "paranoid schizophrenic" post. Reminds me of stories my dad told me working probate court.

at least, if you write about it, you might find the humor in it and help alleviate the angst.

will keep checking back for posts.

Oh, I think you-know-who would feel left out if he wasn't included, but I'll tell him. :)

Just heard about your accident this afternoon. Ouch!! I hope you didn't strain anything too badly and that you will heal quickly.

In the meantime, make sure Sgt. B is doing what he's supposed to...waiting on you hand-and-foot, as you so richly deserve. :)
