The Group "W" Bench

Confessions of a soft-hearted liberal-leaning social worker who happens to have married a Marine.

Name: KodiakMama
Location: Rockford, Washington, United States

I'm a small-town girl, who has lived in a lot of different places, due mostly to having been a Marine wife. I lean slightly left of center on a broad spectrum of issues, which leads to some very interesting conversations around the old homestead. I'm married to Sgt.B., of Gun Line fame. We have had our share of compromises over the years, but I figure in about 20 more years, I'll bring him around to the light side of the Force..... We relocated last year, hopefully for the last time, back to where I began my life; Rockford, WA, the place I couldn't wait to get away from 25 years ago! Funny how much it has improved since then(My parents have gotten smarter, too--it's amazing how they've progressed!)

Well, I used to have a car that was paid for.....

Just a short post, apparently my dearest hubby posted that I was in an accident today. Just so you all know, I have a slight concussion and a really stiff back and neck, as well as some pain in my shoulder from it being over-extended when the airbag deployed. (The airbag blew my hand off the steering wheel and my arm up over my head into the ceiling) Other than that, I am just fine, no broken bones, no internal injuries, no major trauma.

Have I ever said here how glad I am I drive....er... drove ...a Saturn? The things that were supposed to crumple and take the force of the impact did exactly what they were supposed to do, and the interior compartment was virtually unchanged. The car, unfortunately, will almost certainly be a total loss.

I won't be posting for a day or two, while I sort out "stuff". Just wanted to let anyone who reads my dear SgtB know that I'm pretty much OK.

I heard about this at the Gun Line... and I was so worried! Glad you're "ok" even though you're not your usual fantastic self.

Sounds scary! But I'm so glad you've only got the basic bruises and bumps. :)

And I see you're still looking on the positive side of things (i.e. glad for the safety features of the car you had). What a wonderful perspective you have!

Whew! Would have hated to deal with a bereaved Marine. You know how sappy they get...

Get well quick, and make Bill get ya nice replacement, instead of the next milveh he wanted...

Glad to hear you're OK.

And I second John, get a good replacement. Better for the car to get crumpled and you scratched than for the car to get scratched and you crumpled.

Something tells me Sgt.B. will agree. :-)

Ouchies. The imprtant part is that you walked away with nothing seriously hurt. Damn, that sucks about you losing your car KM6. Hope the other guy's insurance, your insurance, and a little extra from savings can get you want you want as replacement.
Car's be replacable. Excellent minds are not.
